"I prayed for this child, and the Lord has granted me what I asked of him. So now I give him to the Lord for his whole life he will be given over to the Lord. And he worshiped the Lord there." (1 Samuel 1:27-28 NIV)
This book is dedicated to my grandson, Kennedy Elijah Fields born November 6, 2016. I learned of your impending arrival on Good Friday at a time when I needed a good word of joy and cheer, and that announcement was perfect to lift my spirits and put a smile on my face.
Kennedy, you are the manifestation of dreams dreamed and prayers prayed by your father when he was just a child who wanted to one day have a son and to be the father that he never had.
This is to the man you will become, during the times when you will need a word of encouragement to go on and to keep fighting for your place in this world! You come from a royal priesthood and you are made from the very hands of God!
Life will challenge you and at times will make you question if it is all worth it. I can tell you now that it is absolutely worth it. In the midst of troubling times you were created to be a ruler and a peacemaker.
Do not be prideful or boastful in your calling but be humbled and careful to take your responsibilities seriously. Follow God as he prepares you for your role and listen to His voice for He will make himself known in ways that will be unquestionable and undeniable; reaching you at the very place where your mind and heart reside.
I am so happy that God gave me the opportunity to use my gifts to write this expression of love to you. I'm thankful, grateful, and excited to witness what you will be and what you will accomplish in this world!
